People for Progress in Fentress County, Tennessee

Transportation

Fentress County is located approximately midway between Nashville and Knoxville on the Cumberland Plateau, 11 miles north of Interstate 40 at Crossville on US Highway 127.

The Jamestown Municipal Airport, featuring a 3,500 ft by 75 ft paved runway and refueling facilities is located 12 miles north of the Clarkrange Regional Business Park, on US 127.

The proposed Nashville & Eastern Railroad will ultimately provide a direct east-west rail connection through northern Middle Tennessee, making direct freight and passenger traffic between Nashville and Knoxville available. Preliminary route studies show the railroad running parallel to State Route 62 from Monterey, crossing US 127 less than .5 miles south of the Clarkrange intersection. It then continues eastward on the south side of SR 62 before crossing back to the north side in Morgan County, 8 miles east of Clarkrange.
